Unseasonal Rains: Over 80 Dead, Huge Damage to Crops, Orchards - AIKS Demands Ex-Gratia

FOLLOWING unseasonal heavy rains and thunderstorms in several states killing at least 80 persons and livestock, and causing heavy damage to crops and orchards, the All-India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) has demanded ex-gratia to the families of the deceased and adequate compensation to farmers.In a press statement issued on May 23, AIKS said “large-scale deaths due to thunderstorms and heavy rainfall have been reported from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana and other states.

AIKS Raises Alarm over Record RBI Surplus Transfer to Union Govt

THE All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), in a statement issued on May 27, has noted with grave concern that the central board of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has recently decided to transfer a record Rs 2.69 lakh crore surplus to the union government for the financial year 2024-25. The RBI took this decision after revising their Economic Capital Framework (ECF) which gave the apex regulator the flexibility for making smooth surplus transfers to the union government.

First All India Women Agricultural Workers Convention

THE two-day All India Convention of Women Agricultural and Rural Workers, organised by the All India Agricultural Workers’ Union, was held at the EMS Academy in Malappuram district, Kerala, on May 9-10, 2025. The convention began with the flag hoisting by Durga Swami, central working committee member and state secretary of AIAWU’s Rajasthan unit, followed by floral tributes at the Martyrs’ Column.The convention was inaugurated by the U Vasuki, vice president of AIDWA, and CPI(M) Polit Bureau member.

SKM Supports May 20th General Strike

THE general body meeting of the Samyukt   Kisan Morcha (SKM) was held in New Delhi on April 20, with delegates from across India. The meeting resolved to extend full support to the All India General Strike of workers called by the Central Trade Unions (CTUs) on May 20, 2025. The strike is being organised in opposition to four Labour Codes which are the pro-corporate and the ongoing push for privatisation, among other pressing demands.

AIKS Condemns AAP Punjab Govt's Repression

THE Samyukt Kisan Morcha Punjab had planned to hold a protest in Chandigarh on     March 5 to address the pending demands of the farmers. However, the AAP led Punjab government, which claims to be the protector of democracy, launched a brutal attack on the democratic rights of farmers by starting to arrest leaders of various constituent organisations of SKM from their homes. Prior to this, on March 2, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had a meeting with representatives of farmer organisations, which ended fruitlessly.

THE anger and frustration of farmers against the authoritarian, pro-corporate NDA-3 Government has erupted in protests across India on December 23, as farmers demand intervention from President Droupadi Murmu. THE All India Kisan Sabha, in a statement issued on December 6, has strongly condemned the repression of the farmers' movement in Gautam Buddh Nagar by the Yogi Adityanath government and demanded immediate steps to address the demands of the farmers.The ongoing farmers' movement in Gautam Buddh Nagar is being forcibly suppressed by the Uttar Pradesh government. The police are going to homes of farmers, threatening and putting them under house arrest. People are being arrested from their homes and on the roads as well.
