Seventy-Five Years of Nakba

IT is 75 years of Nakba. Nakba in Arabic means catastrophe. The ‘catastrophe’ is used to describe the forceful eviction of nearly 7,50,000 Palestinians (from a population of 1.9 million) from their homeland, after the formation of Israel. Every year since 1948, May 15 is commemorated as the day of Nakba.The State of Israel was formed on November 29, 1947, through UN Resolution 181(II) adopted in the UN General Assembly that recommended the plan to partition Palestine into an Arab State, a Jewish State and the City of Jerusalem.

As Army & Rapid Support Forces Battle it Out, Sudanese Left Calls for Restoring the Revolution

TENSIONS simmering between Sudan’s army and the powerful paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) boiled over into armed clashes on the morning of Saturday, April 15, following disagreements over the integration of the autonomous RSF into the army’s command chain.The issue of integration was a key aspect of a deal that Sudan’s ruling junta was to sign with right-wing civilian forces to share power with the latter. The Left in Sudan has been critical of the proposed deal, questioning the sincerity of the parties.

Results of the National Elections in Cuba

LAST March 26, the national elections took place in Cuba to sovereignly elect the 470 deputies to the National Assembly of People's Power, who will make up the X Legislature of the Parliament and who will be in charge of electing the president and vice president of the republic, as well as continuing with the legislative development of the Constitution.  This was an act of popular sovereignty and citizen participation, which reflected the commitment of Cubans to the Revolution.

NCSC Submission to UN on Human Rights in Cuba

The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) through its Universal Periodic Review (UPR), conducted on a periodic basis, reviews the fulfillment of the human rights obligations and commitments by each of the 193 UN member States. The National Committee for Solidarity with Cuba (NCSC) submitted the following recommendations about the situation of human rights in Cuba, which is now up for a periodic review.The NCSC, affirms the value Cuban State accords to every person’s right to a dignified human life.
