CPI(M) Condoles Com Tran Duc Luong
THE Communist Party of India (Marxist) expresses its profound grief at the passing away of Tran Duc Luong, former Polit Bureau member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and former President of Vietnam. He was born on May 5, 1937 and died on May 20, 2025 at the age of 88 years.
Tran Duc Luong joined revolutionary activities in 1955 and joined the CPV in 1959. He served the Party and country in various capacities till he retired in 2008. He served as the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from 1997 to 2006.
In his over 50 years of active political life, Tran Duc Luong made great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the party and the country. He was conferred by the CPV and the State with the Gold Star Order, the 65-year Party membership badge and many other medals, awards and titles.
As one of the key leaders of the party and State, Tran Duc Luong upheld the spirit of responsibility, exemplary conduct and maintained the unity of the party. He was always receptive, modest, understanding, close to the people and respectfully listened to their opinions. He was a respected personality in the international communist movement.
Tran Duc Luong will forever live in the hearts of everyone. His passing is a great loss to the CPV, Vietnam and his family. The CPI(M) once again condoles his death and pays its respectful homage to the departed comrade.
